September 27, 2021Brow Lamination vs The Natural Look
The big, beautiful brow trend doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Full, natural-looking brows are so hot right now, and if we’re honest, we’ve always been a big fan. This is classic French beauty at its best! If you take your eyebrow game as seriously as we do, chances are you’ll have heard of eyebrow lamination. This is the latest eyebrow trend, and plenty of actors, models, and influencers are hopping on it without a second thought. But what is eyebrow lamination? What does the process involve? Are there any potential side effects? How much does brow lamination cost? And what’s better—laminated brows or a natural brow approach? We’ve got all the answers to your burning questions and more in this article. What is eyebrow lamination? Although it seems to be incredibly popular with Insta influencers, eyebrow lamination is a relatively new beauty procedure. You can think of it as a perm for your brows. The aim is to create fuller, smoother, shinier-looking brows and reduce the need for applying eyebrow makeup. Here’s what the brow lamination process looks like: Your beautician applies cream to your brows to “lift” your hairs. Your brow hairs are brushed upwards to get them into a uniform vertical direction. A neutralizer is applied to help seal your brows in place. A nourishing oil is added to prevent irritation and dryness caused by the chemicals in the process. The process usually takes around an hour to complete. You may also want to add additional treatments like tweezing excess hairs, waxing to create your desired shape, or color tinting. You will also need to apply a nourishing brow oil or cream every night after the procedure to prevent your brows from drying out. So although you may be able to wake up with beautiful brows that don’t need any eyebrow makeup, there’s still eyebrow maintenance involved! How much does eyebrow lamination cost? As you’d expect, the cost of an eyebrow lamination session varies depending on where you go. But you can expect one session to set you back anywhere between $50 and $100. Don’t forget—brow lamination is a semi-permanent procedure. That means you’ll have to repeat the process to keep your brows looking the way you want them to. On average, one session lasts about eight weeks. Brow lamination vs microblading What’s the difference between brown lamination and microblading? Microblading is an invasive eyebrow procedure that involves needles and coloring. The process is similar to tattooing. Small cuts are made into the skin beneath your brows, and pigments are inserted into these cuts to create a fuller eyebrow look. One microblading session can last anywhere between 12 and 18 months before the color starts to fade. The main difference is that brow lamination is a non-invasive, semi-permanent procedure. Potential risks of eyebrow lamination Although eyebrow lamination is non-invasive and doesn’t use needles, there are still side effects and potential risks to be aware of. This is because the chemicals involved in the procedure are quite harsh and can irritate the skin. Some of the common side effects include: Swelling Redness Peeling Itching Dryness Bumps These effects can show up beneath and above your eyebrows, as well as extending to your eyelids. There’s also the potentially serious risk of eye damage if the chemicals accidentally run into your eyes during the process. So if you’re set on getting your brows laminated, it’s important you get them done by someone who is properly trained and knows what they are doing. Because of the risks, brow lamination is not recommended for people who suffer from: Sensitive skin Rosacea Eczema Have a history of contact dermatitis The chances of you experiencing side effects increase if you repeat the brow lamination process more frequently than recommended (no more than every six weeks). Like with dying your hair, it’s recommended you do a patch test before going ahead with the full procedure. A patch test will show whether you have any allergic reactions or if your skin is too sensitive. Should you go for laminated brows or the natural look? Laminated brows might be the hottest eyebrow trend right now, but all trends come and go. Why risk damaging your eyebrows when you can achieve the same look with makeup in a matter of minutes? And in our humble opinion, there’s nothing more beautiful than embracing your natural beauty. Here’s why we recommend avoiding harsh brow treatments and opting for the natural brow look: It’s safer and better for your health. It’s cheaper (more money to spend on whatever else you like!) We’re big fans of embracing your natural beauty. There are makeup products for your brows that will safely help you yield the same results as lamination. The secret to natural, fuller brows Step 1: Follow your natural brow line Whether you choose to pluck, wax or thread, be sure to follow the natural shape and arch of your brow line. This is the secret to brows that perfectly suit your bone structure. Remember—don’t overdo it! You’re going for the natural look. Step 2: Find an eyebrow pencil to match your brows The secret to selecting the right eyebrow pencil is to go one shade lighter than your hair color. We cannot get enough of the Brow Arcade eyebrow pencil. You can create a natural or bold look depending on the occasion. The thin tip makes the application process super simple and precise without the need for a brow stencil. The Brow Arcade eyebrow pencil comes in four gorgeous shades: Blonde Soft brown Chestnut Black-brown Step 3: Brush your brows Did we mention that the Brow Arcade also has a fabulous spoolie brush attached so you can brush your brows? The secret is to brush your eyebrow hairs in a downward direction with the spoolie to help you spot any patchy areas and fill them in. This will give your brows that added definition you’re searching for. Once you’re done, remember to brush your brows back upward! Conclusion: Beautiful brows don’t have to be risky! We hope we’ve shown you that everyone can enjoy natural, beautiful brows without the need for risky or invasive procedures like eyebrow lamination. Plus, we believe that putting makeup on is part of the joy. It’s therapeutic and magical as you watch yourself at work. And you get to go shopping for new eyebrow makeup—who doesn’t love that?!

September 19, 2021The Baker And The Beauty: The Best Makeup Looks
The Baker and the Beauty might be over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t swoon over the gorgeous makeup and fashion from the show one last time! In case you haven’t seen it, the series is an adaptation of the Israeli romantic-comedy series Beauty and the Baker. It's a story of a Miami-based baker Daniel Garcia (Victor Rasuk) who falls in love with international superstar Noa Hamilton (Nathalie Kelley), and the pair are an unlikely match to say the least! The show will make you laugh out loud, warm your heart, and have you hitting the rewind button, so you can pause to take in every single one of Noa’s breathtaking looks (trust us, there are plenty!). In this article we’re reminiscing on all the best makeup looks from the show and showing you how to recreate these fabulous looks yourself. Pretty in pink Noa Hamilton (Nathalie Kelley) Noa Hamilton is a high-profile model living a jet-set glamorous life, which means the majority of her looks are red-carpet ready. At times in the show, Noa rocks a matching pink printed set of pants and a short-sleeve shirt. Her hair is natural and relaxed, adding to the summery vacation vibe of this look. But did you know that actress Nathalie Kelley is the opposite of her character in real life? Yes! She is known for keeping her beauty routine simple and natural. “For me, beauty is health, beauty is how my internal organs are functioning,” explains the TV star. Get the look: A pinky-nude lip combined with a pop of pink blush highlight Noa’s pink outfit and create a super fun and feminine vibe. Keep the brows natural (this is the best eyebrow pencil), swipe on some natural shimmery eyeshadow, and finish with a coat of mascara for fluttery lashes. Classic French vibes Noa keeps things très chic throughout the show, especially in the airport scene, by pairing classic dark-wash jeans with a block color shirt and a versatile trench coat. Any French woman following the five-piece French wardrobe would be proud! She’s a frequent jet-setter known for hopping on a plane for international press trips, dodging the paparazzi, and attending glamorous events and parties. But no matter where she’s going, she always looks flawless. Soft waves in Noa’s hair add a relaxed vibe to this look, while jewelry and accessories are kept to a minimum. Get the look: This is one of Noa’s more natural, classic makeup looks. Minimal products are used on her skin to create a natural, radiant look. Her eyes are lightly lined for definition and finished with a couple of coats of mascara for extra length and volume. Complete the look with lipstick in a neutral tone to complement your natural skin tone. Sun-kissed skin Before we break down this glamorous look, can we take a moment to talk about how Nathalie Kelley’s skin always looks like it’s GLOWING?! What’s her secret? She’s a big fan of natural beauty and body techniques including Abhyanga (an Ayurvedic hot oil massage), gua sha, and facial cupping. When she’s not working, she wears next to no makeup and uses her lip balm to soothe her lips and add a hint of color to her cheeks. That’s it! But back to this look. What’s Noa doing and how can you do it too? Get the look: This look is all about sun-kissed skin and a smokey eye. For glowing skin, it’s all about highlighting and contouring to emphasize the parts of your face that will catch the light. Next, for the perfect smokey eye, you’ll need two eyeshadows (a darker shade and a lighter, shimmery one), some eyeliner, and your favorite mascara. Make sure you check your eyes are symmetrical when you’re done, and equally smoldering on both sides. Finish with a swipe of lip gloss or a muted lip color and you’re good to go! Classical beauty Piper (Georgina Reilly) Piper has naturally pale, porcelain skin which adds to her classic, striking beauty throughout the show. This look is all about keeping things simple and elegant. Less is more ladies. Get the look: Eyeliner and mascara add definition to Piper’s eyes here, which are accentuated by the way her fringe draws your attention right to them. A pop of pink blush creates the perfect, English rosy-cheeked look, while a pink-red lip keeps this look classic and feminine. This is a perfect day-time look that can be amped up a notch with a bolder lip for the evening. Casual glam Vanessa Sanchez (Michelle Veintimilla) Vanessa keeps things super sexy throughout the show with this look, but you’d be surprised how little makeup she actually wears. Her brows are bold and defined and are the star of the show here. But how can you perfect your brow game? Get the look: The best eyebrow pencil for you will depend on the color of your eyebrows and hair. Light eyebrows should go for one shade darker than their hair, while women with dark brows should go one shade lighter than their hair. The key to beautiful-looking brows is all about gradually layering different products on top of each other. Vanessa pairs her brows with a striking lip in a dark pink tone. The secret to a long-lasting lip color is to always remember to line your lips first, then fill them in starting at the center and working outwards. Complete your look with some eyeliner on the upper lash line and a coat of mascara. Less is more Natalie (Belissa Escobedo) You can’t help but love Natalie’s character—an awkward, lonely teen who’s trying to come to terms with her sexuality and figure out how her Catholic parents will react to her coming out. Although Natalie wears glasses throughout the show which may distract you from her makeup, she actually has some really strong makeup moments that are both natural and effortless. Get the look: Natalie’s brows are kept bare and natural here, while her eyes are lightly lined then topped with a hint of mascara for extra oomph. Her voluminous lips are kept simple in a nude-pink shade of lipstick, while her hair is pulled back and accentuates her cheekbones and lengthens and frames her face. Keeping it classy Mari Garcia (Lisa Vidal) Daniel’s mother, Mari (Lisa Vidal), is the natural leader of the family, and tends to take over and be a little overbearing at times! What we love most about her is her natural glamour no matter where she’s going or what she’s doing. Her hair is always perfectly curled and never out of place. Her makeup is simple yet stunning. Style and class ooze out of this woman and you can’t help but wonder, how does she do it?! Get the look: Mari’s look is all about allowing your natural beauty to shine through. Her eyes are lightly defined here, while her face is lightly brushed with bronzer to create some definition and glow. Complete the look with your favorite nude lipstick and that’s a wrap! We have loved re-visiting the best makeup looks from The Baker and the Beauty show! The key message here is to work with your natural beauty. The less makeup you use, the more your natural features can shine and work their magic. Some screenshots from Netflix were used for visual reference in this blog post

September 12, 2021Should You Use Castor Oil on Eyelashes?
If you love the look of long eyelashes and thick eyebrows as much as we do, you’ve probably heard about castor oil. Castor oil is said to help grow eyelashes and eyebrows like a magical serum. A bottle of this unusual oil only costs a few dollars and it promises dramatic results. If you’re less than enthused about the state of your lashes or brows then you might be tempted to try it out! However, the jury's still out about it's lengthening abilities, so maybe you're feeling a twinge of doubt. After all, castor oil for eyelash growth is one of those things that sounds too good to be true! With some skepticism but also a touch of hope, we delve deep to find the truth behind those castor oil claims. What is castor oil? Castor oil is a thick oil with a dry yet sticky texture. One of the most unique things about it is that, unlike other oils, it acts as a humectant, which means that it can pull water into the skin. Like all botanical oils, castor oil is composed of fatty acids. The main one is ricinoleic acid, which is responsible for its unique texture and also imbues it with some anti-inflammatory properties. It’s a great moisturizing and soothing oil, although its consistency is a bit different from that of a regular moisturizer. Does castor oil really grow eyelashes and eyebrows? Despite the pervasive myth, it turns out that there’s little scientific basis or decent evidence to suggest that castor oil can improve lash and brow growth. However, it’s also worth noting that, to date, no one has done any extensive scientific studies to actually test castor oil for this. Looking at beauty forums and online reviews, we found a real mish-mash of experiences, but no definitive answers. Some users who tried castor oil claim to have noticed real improvement when it comes to their lashes or brows, while others don’t see any difference. It’s impossible to quantify the varying self-reported experiences so, unfortunately, these testimonials don't really offer a conclusion. There are also very few compelling reasons as to how castor oil could work. Some say it’s anti-inflammatory or anti-bacterial, but we dismiss that immediately since other, more potent anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agents don’t improve lash growth. One study suggested that ricinoleic acid might be able to inhibit prostaglandin D2, which is responsible for hair loss in men. However, the study was done with a computer simulation, so it’s not even close to being conclusive, not to mention that it’s not transferable to lash and brow growth. Is castor oil safe for eyelashes? Castor oil might not be an effective lash or eyebrow growth serum, but it is totally safe. There’s no harm in trying it out, as long as you go about it safely. However, before you take a bath in the stuff, we recommend doing a patch test. As with many other natural ingredients, castor oil does have a slight potential to irritate the skin. To patch test castor oil, simply test it for a few days in a row on a patch of skin where a negative reaction will be easy to deal with. You can apply a little to your forearm, neck, or behind your ear, for example. If all goes well, you can try it on your brows or lash line next. Keep in mind that if the castor oil gets in your eyes, it may cloud your version a bit. If it stings or irritates your skin at any point, stop using it! Additionally, castor oil can be quite dangerous if consumed, so keep it away from curious pets or children. Bottom line You can definitely try castor oil for eyelash and eyebrow growth, especially if you want to keep them moisturized (a proven benefit of castor oil that we love). Just remember that it’s probably not as effective as some people claim when it comes to improving hair growth. You can always use makeup to give your brows and lashes a nice boost! Our Brow Arcade can lend a hand in adding a few hair-like strokes to your brows, while a double-dose of the Cabaret Premier Eyelash Primer and Provocation Mascara will help give the lashes some serious oomph. No matter what route you take, we just hope you keep batting your lashes with confidence!

September 05, 2021How to Keep Your Makeup From Getting on Your Mask
All around the world, many of us are still required to wear face masks in public places. There are no clear signs as to when this will end completely, which means we’ve had to accept that a mask has become a permanent accessory. But what does this mean for your makeup? Anyone who has tried wearing a full face under their mask will be no stranger to smudges, smears, and mask transfers. And if it’s warm outside, it’s game over. You’re left wondering "why did I even bother putting makeup on today?" So, the golden question is: Do you know how to keep your makeup on when wearing a mask? We do; so keep reading to see how! What causes your makeup to rub off? There’s a couple of things going on underneath your mask. First off, wearing a mask causes humidity between the fabric and your skin. This, combined with the oil in your makeup, can cause your makeup to transfer or completely melt away. Second, every time you breathe (which we do around 20,000 times each day!) you produce warm air which also causes your makeup to lift and transfer. Third, the simple fact that most masks are in direct contact with your skin makes it likely that at least some of your makeup will rub off onto it. That might sound like a real challenge, but don’t panic. We’ve done a lot of research and figured out how to keep makeup from rubbing off under a mask. Are you ready to say goodbye to the smudged look and dirty masks? Give the natural look a try Okay, so this is kind of a cheat way to eliminate all that smudging and smearing. But if no one’s going to see half your face anyway, why not take a break from makeup or keep things minimal? Less is more when it comes to classic French beauty. Plus, you’ll save money on makeup and so much time in the morning! Your skin will also get a much-needed break. If you’ve ever thought about embracing a more natural look, there’s no better time to give it a try than right now. Embrace your natural beauty. How to keep your makeup on when wearing a mask Okay, maybe the totally natural look just isn’t your thing. We get it. Putting your makeup on each morning might be a part of your everyday routine, and maybe it helps you feel a sense of normality during your week. So, although we would recommend skipping foundation and only wearing makeup on the visible parts of your face (your eye makeup), we get it. You might still want to wear a full face of makeup. It’s kind of like lingerie—although it’s not always seen, you know it’s there, and it makes you feel like a total Goddess. That’s why we’ve rounded up expert tips to help you protect your makeup underneath your mask and keep it in place the whole day. Use a moisturizer and primer The first step in your beauty routine is to cleanse and moisturize your skin. This will help combat some chafing or spots that masks are known to cause. Next step, follow up with a long-lasting primer. Primer is a great product to use because it’s oil-free, which means it will help keep all the other products you layer on top in place. But don’t get too carried away and use an excessive amount of primer, because this will have the opposite effect! Use it sparingly and add a light layer as you normally would. A matte or waterproof foundation is best If you’re going to wear foundation, look for a matte or waterproof formula. A waterproof formula will dry and lock onto your skin, without drying it out. On a good day, it can stay put for up to 24 hours! A matte foundation will also stay put for longer than a glossy one because it’s water-based rather than oil-based. Apply a thin layer of foundation onto the areas where you need it most, and blend using a brush, sponge, or your fingers. Tips for applying concealer After you’ve applied your foundation, follow up by applying a long-wear concealer. Avoid overly creamy, luminous concealers as these tend to not set well and are likely to transfer onto your mask. Keep your concealer to your eye area (if you need it), but avoid the nose and chin to keep smudging at bay. Set your base Now it’s time to set your base. What you’re after here is a loose, translucent powder. Work it into your skin with a beauty blender or brush. This will allow your mask to slide over your skin without removing your foundation. Although it may be tempting to go all-out with the powder, too much of it will create a chalky effect. And you don’t want to end up looking like a ghost! Make your eyes and brows the star of the show Although wearing a mask can be a nausiance, the great news is your eyes are still very much on show! So, now is the time to upgrade your brow and lash game and make your beautiful eyes pop. This is the first area of your face that people will notice when you’re wearing a mask. In fact, this is usually the first area people normally notice anyway. Embrace your natural-looking brows, and easily add definition with a good eyebrow pencil Experiment with eyeliner and keep your look as natural or dramatic as you like. And the final step is to finish with your favorite mascara. This is what really makes your eyes pop! Use an eyelash curler to add lift, followed by an eyelash primer. Then finish with a couple of coats of lengthening and volumizing mascara. Swap bright lips for neutral shades You may have heard this strange myth going around that lipstick sales have plummeted since the pandemic, but this couldn’t be further from the truth! Women are still wearing lipstick for their video calls, as they go for a walk to the shops, or as they lounge at home for no other reason than it makes them feel beautiful. But if you are wearing a mask for most of the day, avoid anything sticky because you don’t want it to stick to your mask! Be wary of bright colors too, as if the color does end up rubbing, it will be very visible on your face. We recommend sticking to subtle, light or nude shades in a hydrating formula that nourishes your lips. Don’t let your face mask ruin your makeup routine! And that’s how to keep your makeup on when wearing a mask. We hope you’re feeling more confident about going for a more natural look or picking the right products to wear under your mask. Here at Vivienne Sabó we’re making our eyes the star of the show and having a lot of fun trying out new eye makeup looks! So, remember to have fun with your makeup and don’t let wearing a mask get you down.

August 28, 20219 Ways to Make Sure Your Makeup Doesn’t Hurt Your Eyes
Have you ever been swiping on your favorite mascara or eyeliner only to find your eyes tearing up or itching? This is more common than you might think. Maybe it happens as soon as the product goes on, or maybe it happens later in the day. You’re left with sore eyes and smudged makeup all over your face. You deserve better than that. And some eye makeup safety tips can help! Makeup is not meant to harm or irritate your skin. So if it is causing any irritation, that means something’s not right, and it’s time to figure out what that is. You’re one article away from a glorious, pain-free beauty routine. Let’s dive in and find out what’s irritating your eyes, and how to make sure your makeup doesn’t hurt your eyes again. Why do my eyes hurt when I put on makeup? There are a few common things that could be irritating your eyes and making them water: Dust Allergies Dry eyes An eye infection Eye makeup irritating your eyes If watery eyes are something that happens to you often, we recommend visiting an optometrist to check if everything's okay with your eye health. Let them know the symptoms you’re experiencing, and ask them for their recommendations for treatment. If you get the all-clear from the optometrist, the next step is to focus on the makeup you’re using around the eye area. Here’s how to make sure your makeup doesn’t hurt your eyes. Pay attention to ingredients you’re allergic to When you’re using makeup so close to your eyes, it’s always advised to test out a new product on a small area of skin before applying it liberally. You never know how your eyes may react to something new. Plus, if you know you have particularly sensitive eyes or wear contact lenses, it’s important to be extra careful. Figuring out the specific ingredients you’re allergic to can be tricky when there are often 20+ different ingredients in any one product. But if you do notice a bad reaction to a particular product, make a note of it and immediately stop using the product. Check the expiry date of your products Far too many women are using out-of-date products without even realizing it. When was the last time you cleared out your makeup collection? Most products will have a recommended expiry date written on them that will be a number followed by the letter M, such as “12M”. This means it’s recommended that you keep the product for a maximum of 12 months after opening. When it comes to eye products, expiry dates are usually shorter. For example, you should replace most mascara tubes every 3-6 months to avoid a build-up of bacteria and prevent eye infections. If an expired product is still half-full, there’s no need to feel bad about throwing it away—your eye health is far more important! Never share makeup Maybe your mother told you this when you were younger and first learning about makeup. But in case you didn’t get that memo, we’re reminding you now! Sharing things like mascara wands and eye pencils with your besties might seem innocent and harmless, but you have no idea what you’re potentially transferring to each other’s eyes! Avoid this at all costs! If your BFF takes offense, explain to her the dangers of makeup sharing. She’ll understand. Make sure your brushes are clean When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? All beauty experts will tell you that this should be happening on the regular. Why? Because they gather so much dirt and bacteria every time you use them to apply makeup to your skin. You’re then potentially spreading that bacteria onto your eyelids and eyelashes. If possible, give your brushes a clean at least once a week. Clean your face before application Do you cleanse your face in the morning, or do you skip this step and go right to applying makeup? Washing your face can keep eye infections at bay by keeping oil glands of the upper and lower lashes from becoming blocked. This is such a simple, easy step to incorporate into your routine. You can wash your face when you’re in the shower if that’s a part of your morning routine, or do it at the sink after brushing your teeth. Avoid lining your waterline and lower lashes Your eyes might be tearing when wearing makeup because you’re applying it in places you should steer clear of. Putting eyeliner in that spot between the lashes and eyeball is a no-no. You have glands here that produce oil which keeps the tears on the surface of your eyes from evaporating. Makeup placed in this spot can end up washing into the eye and clogging those glands. The result? Dry eyes or tears streaming down your face. No thank you! As a general rule, avoid putting makeup too close to your eye because it’s such a sensitive area. Swap false lashes for mascara False lashes might seem harmless, but there are risks involved. First, the glue can enter your eye and cause infections and abrasions which can lead to scars and even permanent damage. Second, artificially long lashes can actually act as a wind tunnel and attract more air and dirt particles into the eye. This will leave your eyes dirtier and drier than usual. If you want to be extra cautious, we recommend swapping your falsies for a healthy mascara. Be sure to remove your makeup every night The final step when it comes to eye makeup safety is to make sure you religiously remove all your makeup every night—no exceptions! When you’re asleep, any makeup left on your face can easily work its way into your eyes and cause irritation and damage. Wipes alone don’t tend to thoroughly remove makeup and can end up just smudging it around your face. We recommend using a cotton pad and some micellar water to gently remove makeup. Be extra gentle when it comes to the eye area as this skin is quite delicate. The best makeup for sensitive eyes The best makeup choice for sensitive eyes is to use hypoallergenic makeup. This is also best for anyone who regularly wears contact lenses. Many leading cosmetic brands still use harsh chemicals and ingredients in their products that are not ophthalmologically tested. Continuing to use products like this is bound to irritate already sensitive skin and leave your eyes tearing up when wearing makeup. If you’re looking to switch to a gentler mascara formula, why not try our Cabaret Première mascara? This everyday classic mascara provides defined and voluminous lashes with just one coat. Plus, it’s vegan and cruelty-free, like all the products here at Vivienne Sabó! Make the effort to take care of your beautiful eyes! We hope this has helped you understand why makeup might be hurting your eyes, plus how to banish irritation for good. Remember, your health is important, so take all the steps you can to look after yourself. Follow these eye makeup best practices and say hello to tear-free eyes and zero smudging!

From simple eyeliner styles to how to put on liquid eyeliner, and the best eyeliner pencil to use for a chic look, this article has it all! It’s easy to get into a rut with makeup, especially your eyeliner. Do you find you’re always creating the same look day in, day out? Well, it’s time to mix things up! Whether you’re looking for something simple and chic, quick to apply, a pop of color, or something a little more special—we’ve got a look for you. There really are no limits when it comes to getting creative with your eyeliner. And beginners and pros are all welcome here. Check out these 11 fun eyeliner looks below. The less is more look Less can often be more, especially when it comes to French-girl makeup and beauty. After all, who doesn’t love rolling out of bed in the morning and getting their makeup complete in ten minutes? More time for sleeping in, getting your workout in, or even eating a delicious breakfast. So, if this is your makeup philosophy, embrace it. This is one of the more simple eyeliner styles on our list. First, you trace your upper lash line making a thin line along your top lashes with a black eye pencil. To complete the look, curl your lashes and add a healthy coat of lengthening mascara. Told you this was going to be simple and effortless! The semi-outlined eye For this look, you’ll need a liquid eyeliner and an angled brush. Use both together to trace your upper lash line, kicking the line out slightly at the outer corner of your eye to create a winged effect. Next, using the liner and brush again, draw a line from the outermost part of the wing you just drew, all the way back to the halfway point of your lower lash line. And voila—you just created your semi-outlined eyeliner look! The French flick The French flick is also described as the toned-down version of a French woman’s classic eyeliner look. The difference with this look is you start at the center of the upper lid instead of the inner corner. This creates a subtle and smooth line. Use a micro angled brush to help you apply your eyeliner in whatever shade you like. Black is the classic, and you can't wrong with it. Be sure to check your flick is symmetrical on both sides. Two is better than one For this look, you’ll need your standard black eyeliner plus another color for contrast. You can go for a neutral color here or something more vibrant—it’s up to you! Apply your eyeliner as usual to your upper and lower lash line. Next, apply your second color under the lower lashes for contrast. Use an angled brush if you want a thin, crisp line. Don’t forget to finish your look with a swoosh of mascara to make your lashes pop. A kitten-eye This look is all about dialing things back a notch from a full cat-eye, hence the kitten-eye name! We’re opting for a brown eyeliner for this one to create a subtler look, perfect to wear day or night. Use an angled brush to lightly line your top lash line. Start at the inner corner and extend it out into a baby cat-eye. If you want to make this look all about the eyeliner, avoid curling your lashes and adding mascara. Barely there eyeliner Here’s another simple eyeliner style for those of you who don’t want your eyeliner to steal the show. Applying a long-lasting eyeliner between your lashes is more than enough to add some beautiful definition to your eyes. And if you choose the best eyeliner pen for the job, it’ll last you all day and well into the night. It’s true what they say—a little goes a long way. Without a doubt, this is an effortlessly chic way to wear eyeliner. Smudged and smokey To create a smudged, smokey look, use a black pencil to line your lashes. Next, use a smudger brush to blend it out into an almond shape past your lash line. Then sweep some shimmery gold shadow onto your eyelids and the inner corners of your eye, and blend for a sexy, smoldering finish. Sleek ‘60s wing On the hunt for a classic winged eyeliner look? You’re going to love this sleek ‘60s wing. Use a peachy cream eye shadow as your base color, applying it from the lash line to the crease. Next, use a fine-tipped liquid eyeliner to draw a thin, straight line from the inner corner of your eyes, all the way to just past the outer corner. The trick is to extend the line upward, in the direction of the tail of your brow, but ease up on the pressure as you reach the outer corner. This will create a softer, faded line. Finish the look with some fluttery lashes by adding a coat of your favorite voluminous mascara. Thick and thin Have you ever played with the width of your eyeliner? This is a fun look to try while maintaining the definition of your eyes. Try sweeping on a thicker line to your upper lash line, and keep the bottom lash as you usually would. You can even experiment with different colors to make this look extra playful! Baby wings This is a cute spin on the classic winged eyeliner look. Connect your upper and lower eyeliner with the smallest flick at the outer corners. You’ll still create a winged look, but it’s simpler to achieve and can be just as dramatic.
